Each of the characters classes develops various skills in different ways. You might want to check Characters skill progression chart to compare how each class learns the skills available in the game.
Skills Descriptions
Weapons Skills
Skill            Description                  Normal                     Expert                      Master              Grand Master
Blade
covers all types of blades shorter than 4 feet in length
skill level is added to  character's Attack
Bonus
recovery penalty for the weapon is halved
permits the use of a sword in the shield hand for the purpose of twoweapon fighting (dualwielding)
Paladin class
additional +1 bonus to the character's combat total per skill level and a +1 bonus per skill level to the damage the character inflicts upon its target
Gladiator class
+1 bonus per skill point to the character's Armour Class and +1 bonus to combat total
Assassin class
+1 bonus to the character's attack skill for every 3 points of skill when wielding daggers
Bow
covers both the use of bows and crossbows
skill level is added to character's Attack Bonus
skill level is added to character's Damage Bonus
character's bow fires two arrows during every attack
allows the character to fire three shots with one attack
Cudgel
covers all kinds of blunt trauma weapons ranging from large clubs to flails
skill level is added to character's Attack Bonus
skill level is added to character's Damage Bonus
stuns the target
skill level doubles the Attack and Damage Bonus of the character
Spear
allows the use of bladed pole weapons
skill level is added to character's Attack Bonus
skill level is added to  character's Damage Bonus
permits the use of a spear in the left hand for the purpose of two weapon fighting
provides an additional attack with spears
Thrown
covers the use of throwing daggers
and axes
skill level is added to character's Attack Bonus
skill level is added to  character's Damage Bonus
character's recovery time is reduced by half
character is allowed to attack twice in one turn
with their thrown weapon
Unarmed Combat
your ability to use only your hands and feet in combat, no weapons; only works with your hands empty
skill level is added to character's Attack
Bonus and Damage Bonus

double the skill level is added to character's Attack Bonus and Damage Bonus
triple the skill level is added to  character's Attack and Damage, and the skill level is added to character's Armour Class
adds an additional attack plus one more attack for every 3 skill points over 10 in Unarmed Combat

Armour Skills
Armour
covers the use of all kinds of armour
skill level is added to character's Armour Class
recovery penalty for the armour is halved & some classes may wear Chain or leather armour
double the skill level is added to character's Armour Class and some classes may wear Plate armour
triple the skill level is added to character's Armour Class and the recovery penalty for armour is eliminated
Dodge
can be used only when you are not wearing armour or using a shield
skill is added to
character's Armour Class
the effect is doubled (x2)
the effect is tripled (x3)
the effect is quintupled (x4)
Shield
directly improves a character's Armour Class
while a shield is employed
skill is added to
character's Armour Class
the Class recovery penalty for using a shield is eliminated
double the skill points are added to character's Armour Class
skill level allows a shield bash attack that does damage at three times the level of Shield skill

Meditation

Dark
Magic
Dark Magic has the most spectacular damaging and creaturecontrolling spells available. The effects for the four levels of mastery vary from Class to Class.
Light
Magic
Light Magic includes some of the most powerful defensive spells, including Healing.The effects for the four levels of mastery vary from Class to Class.
Spirit
Magic
Spirit Magic focuses on the soul, mind and spirit of all things; many defensive and healing spells are found in Spirit.The effects for the four levels of mastery vary from Class to Class.
Elemental
Magic
Using the powers of the four elements  air, earth, fire, and water, the school of Elemental Magic teaches some of the strongest direct damage spells.The effects for the four levels of mastery vary from Class to Class.
Specialty Skills

Armsmaster
represents the warrior's tricks of the trade in using melee weapons
skill level is added to character's Attack Bonus with all melee weapons

Disarm Trap
is checked automatically when you open a trapped chest or other container
increases your chance to disarm traps on chests

Identify Item
is automatically applied when you rightclick on an unidentified inventory item
a chance you will be able to identify the item

Identify Monster
is applied when you rightclick on a monster
learn the monster's Hit Points and Armour Class
learn the monster's attack type and ability to do damage

Item Repair
allows your characters to repair broken equipment & is automatically applied when you rightclick on a broken item in your inventory
increases your chances to repair a broken item

Learning
directly increases the number of
Experience Points (EP) a character receives for completing quests or killing monsters
(EP x Skill level x 10%) + EP
(EP x Skill level x 20%) + EP

(EP x Skill level x 50%) + EP
Merchant
helps adjust prices in your favour, whether you are buying or selling
adjusts shop prices in your favour

character buys and sells items at cost
Perception
gives your characters a chance to notice hidden doors and traps, and to avoid damage from traps when they are triggered
increases your chance to avoid traps and notice treasures
